IAME Series Finland has negotiated about a partnership with Swedish company Aspen manufacturing alkylate petrol. There were also negotiations with other petrol suppliers and manufacturers. Aspen delivered two different petrol options to Paimio event and the feedback was excellent. The cleanliness and lubrication were significantly better than with pump petrol of which qualify has varied quite a lot during this year. Alkylate petrol is 99% cleaner and therefore friendlier for people, engines and environment when compared with traditional petrol.
if Aspen is used in karting engines, it's assumed based on the tests that the reliability of the engines will increase, need for maintenance will decrease and predictability will improve because in the worst case, the petrol is maximum two weeks old, constant quality, alcohol and water free. Aspen has a comprehensive dealer network in Finland and abroad. Check the dealers from here.
This year many problems with engines have been caused by poor petrol quality which also causes problems to normal cars. However karting engines are much more sensitive to the changes which has lead to seizures and unexplained issues with carburettors. In practice, the screws can be closed a bit and engine runs much cleaner with Aspen.
The organiser will not take part in petrol business meaning that the dealer of Aspen in Finland will bring the petrol to the race track on Thursday morning and sells it based on pre-orders to the participants. The petrol is sold in 25 litre environmentally friendly cans. The complete service makes it very easy for participants when the petrol is always at the track already.
Aspen has a complete laboratory in Gothenburg where it's possible to get complete chemical reports of mixed petrol which is an excellent help for scrutineering. In Finland there is no company making tests for petrol where oil is mixed for 2-stroke engines.
As a series organiser we would like to test the procedure and petrol in Alahärmä event to get more knowledge for the next season. It's much better to get first-hand experience that make a decision blindly based on rumours and somebody else's opinion. From our point of view, petrol plays an important role in reliability and equality. Therefore you have 24 hours to vote.
